I'm a bit odd

I saw that play "Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames". Actually, I quite appreciated it. I guess that makes me a bit of an odd one here. Making you think about hell and the joy of Jesus opening heaven for a believer.

True, the version I saw had no reference to homosexuality at all.

I agree though, that fear of hell mostly sucks as a way of convincing people to become Christian. I can just see an image of God seated on the throne in heaven, when all of a sudden a Christian runs in screaming, runs around and around God on his throne, nervously peers into every corner, jumps and shivers, cries out "woe", runs around and around God again a few times... A chicken with its head cut off. And all the while God is sitting there patiently, waiting, waiting, wondering when his loved one is going to stop running around and actually come to him.

My coming to love God had very little to do with fear of hell, it was more a responding to his love and being so glad I had someone like him who was really interested in me. I always say, friends will come and go, but Jesus has ever been my closest and ever friend. I'm so thankful he loves me enough that I can even be honest with him about the way I feel about things sexually, about boys and stuff. Gay guys sometimes say their coming out and accepting their homosexuality was such a right thing for them to do. For me, loving God and seeking to please him is something even righter. My highest love.
