I'm intentionally off to a late start this morning since I had something important to do last night and only need to cover about 450 miles (725 km) today. About a year ago I accidentally discovered something that made my outlook on life a lot better. At the suggestion of a mission priest to our entire parish, I started thanking God each morning for my life. I had no particular reason to do this, other than his suggestion. I also started praying each morning for people I knew. The number of people has grown from about 10 to around 200. Now, here's the (for me) unexpected result. I now really am thankful for my life, where before I had only been grudgingly accepting. The people I pray for have all become much closer to me than they were before. Whether this is psychological, spiritual, some combination of the two or something else I don't know about doesn't really matter. What matters is that it has happened. And it makes it a lot easier to get up each morning. ---Ford |
