on this board - though personally I find throwing the word 'abomination' around is a little off putting. Much of what we try to be about is not putting up barriers - rather allowing people to be real, and hopefully act as reality check on them at the same time. There are a variety of views expressed - certainly being here will make you work at your core beliefs - but that is part of becoming real. Indeed one of the sad things is the frequency with which 'Christians' storm in all guns blazing - and then disappear a few days later. Much of Jesus' style of ministry was about being alongside the marginalised, showing them that they mattered to God at least as much as the outwardly religous. I'd encourage you to wander down the board a bit and read some of the longer threads - it was my mistake not to when I first arrived, but I seem to have survived.... so far. But overall a big welcome, and I hope you will feel able to hang around. It would be nice to know a little about you - age range - I'm early 40s :-(, country - I'm a Brit; I think we can guess your denominational background is conservative evangelical / fundamentalist!! Which is my own, honest! Looking forward to hearing more. |
