Just like Jesus did. One of my favorite quotations is from a missionary who was asked whether he tried to convert the African people he was ministering to. He paused, then said, "It's hard to convert someone who has died of starvation. First we feed them, and then we tell them that we did it for Jesus' sake."

I've had about a billion non-Christians tell me why they've rejected the Christian Church, and nearly every testimony boils down to the same thing: they don't belong to the Church because they don't see any signs of Godliness in the average Christian. I'm strongly convinced, after two years of discussions with non-Christians, that the only way to soften people's hearts on Christianity is to do the same thing Jesus did: demonstrate your love. If you do that, sometimes (though not always) words will be unnecessary, because the people will already have encountered Jesus through you, and will know why he's worth following.
