Chris, I am so sorry that something like this happened to you. It's horrible how careful people have to be when dealing with kids. Simple love and friendship is so easily construed as deviancy and perversion. If you were both twelve, your relationship would have been normal, healthy even, but because you happen to be ten years older than your friend, you are treated as a criminal, and in your case even incarcerated like one. Our culture seems to not distinguish between helpful and harmful behavior in this area. For you to be arrested and serve jail time when nothing sexual whatsoever was involved is a sad indication of the state of our world. I continue to pray for rationality, common sense, and compassion to become the rule, but somehow I feel that that may never be the case. I've not had the same experience as you, Chris, but my heart goes out to you, and I pray that God will help you through this. God bless, ChoirBoy |
