I think one of the most difficult things for any of us to learn is when to quit, especially when we're young. We're taught "You can do anything if you try hard enough." Unfortunately, there are situations (like the one you describe) where this idea becomes the route to disaster.

I was lucky enough to have had something else drilled into my head when I was young though....don't go against someone else's parents. That's what probably saved me from getting into real trouble many times. In other words, it was over when the father first banned you from seeing his son. It would have hurt a lot to have given up the boy then, and it was only natural to look for ways around it....but your efforts were inevitably doomed. It was just a matter of time until you were discovered. At that point, the consequences were clearly much worse.

From the bottom of my heart, I wish this weren't so, but going against a boy's parents, even when you know you're right, leads to even more heartache.

Still, remember that no matter what happens, God loves you. He does. He knows your heart and he's your one true friend. He made you to bring his love to others.....and you're trying your best to do this. Keep up your hope, for God will bring others to you who need your love. It always happens. Learn from this experience and keep on going.
