Hi Jake -- You've asked some interesting questions. OK the Pope I know some christians thing hes the antichrist or whatever. What did he do wrong? Christians who think he's the anti-Christ will have their own answers; I'm not one of them. I was educated in Catholic schools starting in 5th grade and 50 years later I still go to church (Catholic mass) on Sundays. All the following comments are, of course, only my opinions, although a lot of my views are shared by many other Catholics. As tpka Ford Prefect pointed out, "Those of us in the Catholic church see many problems within it, but they're usually not those perceived by adamant anti-Catholics." What has the current pope (John Paul II) done wrong? Here are some examples:
Like the inverted cross. that is the cross of st. peter right? why do they try and make it look like the mark of satan? I don't know who "they" are and I don't care what they say. As far as I'm concerned, talking about "the mark of satan" is just plain silly. How is anyone sure the bible is 100% correct. It wasnt written by god himself so it can't be totaly right you know what i mean? There was a lot of heated argument about this during the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), which was attended by almost all of the Catholic bishops from around the world. They ended up agreeing on this statement: "The Books of Scripture must be acknowledged as teaching firmly, faithfully, and without error that truth which God wanted to put into the sacred writings for the sake of our salvation." why do christians say "the father the son and the holy sperit" if the holy sperit god and jesus is the same person? Tpka Forgiven has provided a good reply to this question. In summary, the traditional view of the Trinity is that God has revealed himself to humans as 3 persons in one being: God the Father who is the Creator worshipped by the Jews, God the Son who is the Redeemer who became man, and God the Holy Spirit who guides the faithful toward salvation. About all that can be said is that the Trinity is literally a mystery which will become clear when we reach heaven. why would people worship satan and have a horrable time when god is supose to be fun and all happy? Maybe such people are just trying to be "shocking" for some reason. But I'm not shocked; I'm not even interested. :-) why back then was the inverted cross a holy symbol and now its the mark of satan.. what does the upside down star have to do with anything? I honestly don't know anything about these questions. Someone else will have to reply. I will stop their I don't want to royaly annoy you people. (i normally don't spit out questions like that but its a board so i figured it would be ok) I wasn't at all annoyed by your questions. As you point out, that's what this board is for!
