On my travels through this land of Relative Truths And Absolute Nonsense I took a meal in a quiet little Bistro. The owner was like Mr Benn: one moment owner; the next, waiter; the moment after that, the chef. I got drunk; he got drunk. We talked. "You're sensitive and intelligent", he told me. ("Hah! If only you knew I'm a boylover", I thought.) "This chicken-in-a-cream sauce is really delicious", I told him. ("Hah! If only you knew I'm slowly poisoning my clientelle", I imagined HIM thinking.) When we got around to Absolute Truth, he told me "the absolute truth": you can never be God. When I walked through his door I was without faith and hair. When I left, I left without ambition.
