"I have strong doubts in the veracity of the Christian (or any) belief in God. What makes you so faithful?" As I child I got scared into it. When I failed to respond to the majesty of the "hero" Jesus, or to the humility of the "care-giver" Jesus, or the selflessness of the "sacrificial" Jesus, my sunday school teachers scared the crap out of me by saying I'd go to hell and "burn, baby, burn!" UNLESS I repented. I repented. For a while. All it took for me to backslide was my hand, my groin, and the cover of darkness. "I see a lot of things which sound so dependent on the views of a specific cultural environment. Shouldn't an eternal truth be independent?" Indeed: the eternal truth is man is nothing but a sinner. "Why is Man's imperfection shining through?" Those are the given examples of the eternal truth. :) Peace be with you Rex Infinity |
