Dannyboy,

I'm sorry that you were abused and are still suffering the consequences. Do you have someone that you talk to about it? Are you getting counseling? I pray that you will find healing.

You make a good point that it is easy to think that boys will reciprocate our romantic or sexual feelings. We need to be realistic and remember that most boys will not; in fact, many will feel very uneasy or scared if we let them know our feelings.

From what I have read, there are some gay boys who do want romantic/sexual relationships with men, and who grow up to look back on those relationships very positively. I have read this in some mainstream gay publications. So we need to be careful and not assume that stories of positive sexual relationships are invalid.

But entering into such a relationship is risky because we can't tell ahead of time whether it will turn out positively or negatively. So much of that is based on how sensitive the man is, the context of the relationship, how the boy perceives it, and how his perception is affected by social factors. So I don't recommend man-boy sexual relationships, but I don't condemn all of them either.

Mark
