Ask him if all of his feelings for his wife are just sexual. Don't let the church take on the role of God. Believe what you feel is the truth, taking into account your feelings and experiences, your understanding of God's will (revealed through Jesus' teachings), and input from other people. In respectful discussions, other people can constructively challenge you on things you may not have thought about. Their feelings and experiences are valid too.
