I just found the Kinsey Institute website, and they are asking people to assist them in their research on sexuality by completing a series of on-line anonymous questionnaires. I think it is important for there to be BL representation in such research, which could contribute to a more complete understanding of sexuality and an enlightened knowledge of BL among researchers. Maybe I am being naive, and they will ignore our input. On the other hand, perhaps they will follow in the footsteps of Kinsey himself, who included data on pedophiles when he did his research several decades ago. I encourage everyone here to go to the website (linked below) and complete the questionnaires. It does take about a half hour, and of course the questions assume everyone is attracted to adults (and is or has been sexually active). But there are a couple places to write in comments (in the section on use of "erotic videos/websites") and that is where you can explain more clearly your orientation. In my opinion, the questionnaires are crude and poorly constructed, since the multiple choice responses sometimes don't cover all possibilities, don't match the questions, or don't make sense for us, but it's better than nothing. If you are worried about security, the website states: Your answers will be treated as strictly confidential and will be accessible only to those in the research group developing this questionnaire. Your answers will remain anonymous. For the duration of your visit to our website you will be assigned a unique identifier. No identifying information about you or your computer will be recorded by the data processing software. No reference will be made in oral or written reports which could link you in any way to this study. If you decide to participate you are free to withdraw at any stage before completing the questionnaires. You are also free to refuse to answer questions. |
