I have to disagree, asb. Hehe.

"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people."

Personally I have a hard time defining sexual immorality, so I prefer to focus on the word "impurity". How can something be pure if there are thoughts inside that, if acted out, would be impure? If you clean the outside of the cup, is it not still dirty? Really, you must clean the inside, and once you do that the outside will be clean as well. (From the Big D translation of the Bible)

Our thoughts are what make us immoral, or impure, or imperfect. If we never had an impure thought, we'd obviously never act in an impure manner. But since we do have such thoughts, that opens up the possibility that we will act badly.

Masturbation, as you explained it, seems to be a necessary act to help us control our desires. (Some of my church would disagree saying that masturbation encourages our lustful thoughts, but I won't argue the issue.) I don't think that masturbation itself is evil, but just lustful fantasies...
