Glad to hear the boy you were helping is doing fine "without you." However, you may be with him always. You may have made an impact without knowing. God sees all things, and the time you had may have raised the kid up just when he needed it. Do not be discouraged! How can giving a part of yourself to a boy be wrong? Have patience and faith, and in time, you may just realize that the time you spent with the kid was time well spent! Now that you have created space for yourself...remember you can go back when you feel you can. I've loved a boy from the time he was 11. He's now 21~! God has made me see all that being a mentor to him has meant for both of us. He has tied our souls together, and wherever he goes I am there, and wherever I go, he is there. And, more importantly, God is within us too! I thank God for the times we have shared and will share at some future date. There are times relationships need space. I understand that need to step aside for a time, but I pray you will have the opportunity to experience the joyful possibilities that can occur between you and your "mentee."
