We are ALL at different points in regards to this issue. I suppose Comfort felt God tugging Him into walking away from boys. Perhaps God will change Comfort as Comfort so desires, or perhaps God will bring Him into the valley to teach Him valuable lessons. It's not up to us to change ourselves. We have no control. It's really up to God.

It sounds like you are agonizing over the thought of giving up your relationships with boys. Your message reminded me of sacrafice. Ah, sacrafice. I cannot sacrafice like God sacraficed, yet I remember working with my Joseph and getting frustrated with all of the sacrafices I made on behalf of a kid whose heart had been trampled on many times in life. His mom wanted me to stay where Joe lived, because she knew the love that existed between us. On a bus, I asked God, with my head bent, "How can I make that kind of sacrafice? Joe's mom is crazy!" And then I looked up and saw on a stained glass window of Jesus on the cross. This event blew me away. AKA, giving up relationships with boys would be agonizing for me also. I don't think God wants us to make this "sacrafice." Yet we should remember that God gave the ultimate sacrafice. He did this for us, because He loved us. With God's help, I sacraficed many things for Joe; He made our love "right."

I disagreed with Comfort on his desire to be changed. I honestly don't think God wants you or any of us to "give up" these relationships. Believe it or not, the relationships that we develop with boys can be some of God's greatest blessings in our lives. With God's help, WE can make a difference in thousands of boy's live, which in turn, impacts our lives, and in some instances make an important difference in the world. I haven't heard anyone in this group desiring to hurt a boy, but to love, comfort, and bring hope to boys. We, in this group, have been given a wonderful, uplifting gift. I hope God gives us the courage to use our special abilities and the wisdom to do "it" right.

Best Wishes,
~Once a Boy
