....and my dad would leave me sitting in the car while he "talked business" with someone, I'd occasionally pass the time by staring at the sun. At that time it wasn't known (at least by me) this could be harmful. What a show I'd see each time. The sun would appear as a flat disk and then start spinning with light shooting off from the sides. It would even change color from (as I remember) yellow to gold to red to green and even to blue. One day I told my dad about this and was warned never to do it again. Imagine my surprise when I heard decades later that people regarded this optical phenomenon as miraculous. For me it was a neat way to idle away a few minutes. ---Ford |
