Ford Prefect and Once a Boy have expressed what I was trying to get at far more gracefully than I did, and I most humbly thank them for so doing. Actually, the real trigger for me was reading your assertion that Jesus was a boylover. I guess I should be more patient, but by fashioning an image of our Lord and Saviour according to your own pet theories, you are not exactly contributing to the cause of "unity" on the board. There are those of us here who place more importance on the person and work of Christ than we do on our own identity issues. If I were to claim that Yeshua Meshiach was actually Chinese simply because my grandparents were born in Shanghai, would you take that at face value, or would you insist that He was a blue-eyed blonde, just like the pictures in your Bible? (For the record, none of my grandparents were born in Shanghai.) Incidentally, to get more appreciation of Kierkegaard, it's good to know that he was simultaneously launching an assault on Hegelianism, writing about his relationship with Regine Olsen (he was 24 when they met and she was 14, three years later they were engaged, but he broke it off and died a bachelor), and challenging the notion of "Christendom" which held that everyone born in Denmark was a Christian simply because they had been born in Denmark and been baptised in the Lutheran Church eight days later.
