To be fair...

It should be pointed out that evangelicals are not all like your pastor. Unfortunately, emotionalism has been emphasized in some strains of Protestantism, to the extent that to use one's God-given intellect is taken as a sign that one is "carnal." I don't know what all else is involved in your situation, but I think it's possible to remain Protestant without sacrificing your mind. (I chose not to remain, and I think my decision was correct, but I'm not here to proselytize -- that's what email is for!) :-) Dirk
