But the homosexual issue and the eating sacrifices ARE the same thing. Insofar as the one and the other entails a ritualistic denial of God and therefore break-up in relationship with him. Unless you're going to say the problem with homosexuality is just that two guys can't ever look after each other as well as a woman could...

Anyway, that's good to hear your church accepts your gay fellow well. Sometimes I feel like doing something like that. Really give their commitment to love a bit of a shake up... I'm sort of doing it, but slowly by ones and twos, not the whole congregation at once. My pastor wants to talk to me some more continuing our little argument from the other week, but I'm avoiding him... (I'm not convinced he's willing to listen to the person you see. Right doctrine is one thing, but its bloody destructive unless you're going to take the time to listen and understand the person and feel what he's feeling.)

About the command not to eat, yes Paul says its good not to eat because of the other person's conscience. But I wanted to make sure you (and those reading) didn't miss the point that this was for the sake of the other person, not because there's anything wrong with it itself as far as you and God are concerned.
