We all are called to worship the Lord! In everything that we do. And praise and worship is something VERY special to me. That's the thing... I always have to ask, Are the kids into the music and more importantly the Praise as I am. This is how I do it. I start off with a bunch of fun songs. They hear the songs. It plans a seed! In The Great Adventure by Steven Curtis Chapman, one of the verses is "I opened up the bible and I read about me!" And every week, I talk a little between the songs and how it affects their lives! The second week, I'll do 3 fun songs and one faster praise song without motions... see how they react. The next week, 2 fun songs (and fun songs are praise songs just with motions I've put together or learned from someone else.) 1 non-action song, and one slower praise song that is very worshipful and the kids have to pay attention to the words. And then I'll keep that type of combo changing it up to more fast or slow depending on what week it is. All this time, I share a little bit about how this relates to them. I'm a very high energy person and very joyful when praising the Lord. And the kids see that! And they want to join in on my joy! And then they start jumping around and singing to the Lord. Or perhaps they are just singing. But someday, when they are listening to me talk, they think, WOW! This song is talking about how I can follow Jesus! Isn't that awesome! I get to lead worship for a bunch of kids!!!!! Praise HIM!!!!! God Bless you ALL! Praise ALWAYS! Huck |
