Some questions

Well, I've got to live up to my name...

In my tradition, we have these things called "soul freedom", and "the priesthood of all believers". One way of reducing these concepts, is to say that each Christian has the right to discuss issues of morality directly with God, through prayer and personal Bible reading, and come to their own conclusions about what is right or wrong for them as an individual, regarding matters than are in controversy in the church. So when the church is uncertain or wavering in its teaching, I always turn to God directly for guidance. And I trust that the things God tells me in the Bible and through prayer are true.

So here are some questions to ponder:

1. What is marriage? Is it something that the church does to people, as a bureaucratic office, or is it a covenant that people make between themselves in God's presence, that the church then puts its blessing on? And is gender or age NECESSARILY a factor in the making of a covenant?

2. Isn't there a middle ground somewhere (I'm speaking in terms of all romantic relationships, not just one sexual orientation in particular), between complete and utter celibacy, and greedy promiscuous lust? Isn't there a middle ground where relationships can have an erotic component without it being sinful? Now for boylovers, I would assume that such an erotic component would have to be kept (for the most part) in private at a fantasy level--ie, not acted out--but still, couldn't it exist (in theory) without being sinful?
