God is never out-dated. Some ideas on who & what God is, that's another matter... I do not accept the concept that sex outside of marriage is a sin. Sex can be a sin, but it depends on the situation... Okay, so I'm not a Christian... Not by your definition anyway... I believe God is worthy... But, I believe God to be something greater, better, and more loving than I could ever hope to be... You may believe that he punishes people for things that do no harm, but I will not. "Only to follow the beliefs that he professes to believe in." - You're assuming you know what I believe again... =) Perhaps I was misleading when I claimed to be a Christian... Perhaps I didn't know what a 'Christian' was... I expect that there are a number of people, just like me who have yet to realize that being a 'Christian' means believing in all manner of ridiculous sins... And by saying that as a 'Christian' I must believe certain things, you force me to reconsider what I am... You push me away from Christianity, but not from God... With more people leaving in disgust all the time, perhaps the serpent will soon have no teeth. Forgive me for my last statement... I couldn't think of a better way to say it... My God? The Lord, our God is what he is... But none of us know for sure what that is... All we have is faith. I believe that God is good and kind, and loving... And is, indeed, our heavenly father... Who wishes respect & love from his children... I try to give him that... I believe that God accepts acts that are not harmful... It is not my professed God that takes on a nasty form... You obviously misunderstood my message to mean that I was rejecting God. But, I have merely rejected your idea of what God is. I suggest that the character that many people give God is that of an 'Emperor Deity', who strikes fear into the hearts of all those who do not do as he says... A god that might damn some poor soul for acts that do not harm anyone... But merely go against the teachings of a book... I can't say for sure what God will or won't accept. And neither can you. All I have is my faith that God is better than what so many make him out to be... I will say this; I feel God's presence... I feel him watching me... But it is a kind presence... And a friendly gaze. I feel God in my heart... Do you? None of us can know for certain what God's word is... My morals are my own... My ethics are my own... I use my judgment & common sense as my guide... All our answers in life ultimately come from within... I freely admit that I may be wrong... But I don't really believe that I am. If God really wanted me to believe differently, he would have influenced me to do so. I'm sorry to hear that you don't believe in God. But, remember: Just because I believe in God doesn't mean that I believe what other people have said he wants us to do. PEOPLE wrote the Bible, not GOD... Sprite. =") |
