If you accept my own personal religious views as part of Christianity, then I am a Christian, if not, then I am not a Christian. Ummm... What should I refer to myself as?

"Basically what you are saying is: I am a Christian but damn God. I'm going to do what I want to do."

Not at all... I spoke too harshly... But I do not believe that God looks upon non-harmful acts as sinful. There is nothing inherently harmful about sex outside of marriage. I'm not saying that I am going to do what I want to do... I'm saying that I will do anything I wish to do, that I do not believe is sinful. My beliefs are my own, and I will not have others' beliefs imposed upon me.

"God created the tenets that you profess to believe in so God is the one you serve."

Yes, I suppose... We don't know if the Bible is indeed God's words... But I accept some of what it has to say. I have, perhaps mistakenly, said I was a Christian... But I never professed to believe such things as "non-marital sex is a sin" or "being gay is a sin", these are ridiculous and repulsive ideas. Yes, God is the one I serve. Through me, may his will be done... I serve God because I am able to see him differently than so many others do... If I could only see him as some others choose to see him; as a wrathful, vindictive being, then it is likely that I would not believe in him at all...

"Christianity isn't the cancer." - Perhaps not... Perhaps the cancer is the members of this faith that refuse to accept a more positive view of the Lord...

"It is people like you who interpret the Bible as you see fit and don't really read the underlying message that's the problem." - What is the 'underlying message'?
Yes, I interpret the Bible as I see fit - Based on my own views of right & wrong. Are you suggesting that I accept the Bible at face-value? That's not only foolish, it's impossible... The Bible says 'Thou Shalt Not Kill', but through out the Bible there are constant excuses of how it's sometimes okay to kill somebody... Are you saying, instead, that I should accept some one else's interpretation? It is equally foolish to blindly follow another's beliefs...

Perhaps the only real message we are meant to hear is this:
Be good to one another.
If so, I have failed... and so have you...

God has not turned his back on us... And he never will... For he is better than any of us could ever be.

Sprite.
