Hey, I thought of a better way to say what I meant: my experience has been that young people just seem more "real" to me than older people. Not that I have anything against older people per se, I am attracted to older guys too, but I prefer younger ones in general, because they seem to be more alive somehow, or more intense, with regards to emotions, spirituality, sexuality, and even their physical beauty. So that is what I meant by "untainted". Not that they are "clean" or "spotless" or "naive", but that they are "real", even in their flaws and imperfections and problems (dare I say that I appreciate it when someone can show that they have human weaknesses?) Being "real" about ones faults is a beautiful thing to me, and I don't like it when people try to hide things. So even though boys have to deal with sex and drugs and complex friendships and whatnot, I appreciate them for being alive and living through it, rather than being jaded and cynical about it, the way some adults are. Often it takes a lot to get a boy to open up about his feelings, but when he does, you can be sure there is a lot there! Being shy and reserved, or even defensive, is not the same as being cold and jaded. And boys may appear to be defensive or aggressive on the surface, but once you get to know them as friends, they often open up and become very emotional. But of course you can't generalize. Some boys are probably cynical and jaded, and some adults have a real zest for life. I'm only speaking about my overall observation that I usually get along better with people who are younger than me, because they seem more emotionally connectable to me, somehow.

But I can only speak of my friendships with teenboys; I don't even have any friends under the age of 16 right now, and the youngest boys that I ever volunteer with are 13-14. So I don't know if it is different with younger boys.
