Yes, Desert Oasis, the reality of humanity, I think many churches, many Christians, simply cannot handle it. There's so many other examples, the weakness of our heroes. Abraham wasn't man enough to admit his wife was his wife. Judah, oh boy, now there's a story to think about, and that in Christ's genealogy! Elijah, after sending the prophets of Baal to Hell, got pissed off with life and wanted to die. Peter pulled a sword and chopped off the servant's ear. Paul writes "I will boast of my weaknesses, for in my weakness I am strong". He says further, "the parts that are less presentable, we give special honour." We could, perhaps, do with more of that sense of honour. Not much room there for pointing the finger, long after consequences have been paid for. Fod p.s. welcome, nice to have you here. |
