Ah - progress

So we've finally got a suggestion from mvanhouten that there might possibly be the requirement to treat kids differently from adults in serious matters - that there is a tendency for them to act without due thought or appreciation of the consequences. At least that seems to be implied by message.

At the core of the 'child protection' argument is that it is not possible for a person of given maturity to understand the consequences of having sex with someone else; what may seem like 'recreational fun' actually has major emotional overtones and responses which are not possible just to walk away from. The term 'making love' actually does have some semantic content.

It is certainly my experience that being seduced at the age of 11 by a boy perhaps a year older than me, and subsequent playing at sex for the next 2 years with other boys about my own age did leave a major emotional scar. But try to explain that to an 11 year old. So - to move the conversation forward - how does mvanhouten set the age limit; I assume he's not arguing that 'eight is too late'.....
