I could write "right on" when you say minors don't have the maturity to vote. I could solve our problems by being anti-intellectual and sitting on Heather's lap and asking for another story about widows in the greek orthodox church, please. But actually I'd rather study the works of Nobel prize winners, internationally recognized philosophers, respect queer theorists, brilliant and insightful boy-lovers no longer with us. I'd rather write publicly in favor of the rights of minors, and share what little I have gleaned from greater minds. I'd rather not bitch with celibate old uneducated guilt-ridden people who believe they were my mentor in some past existence. |
