If you go through the New Testament, and just replace every occurance of the Greek word "pais" with the word "boy" (even when it is usually translated as "servant" or something else), it is really mind-opening!! I mean, please, Jesus spent time with children when that was hardly the custom for "important" people of his day. If someone were to do, in our culture today, what Jesus did (i.e., talk to children he didn't know, frequently), he would be labeled a pervert. Now, this approach may definintely not win any awards for exegesis, but it's still worth looking at, even if it's not so good to take things TOO literally! I hardly think Jesus was a "pervert" for heaven's sake, but he spent time with lots of people that the rest of society wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. That's why you can be sure that God is supportive of boylovers (and CBF) even though the rest of the world may hate you. I don't think that this message board could have survived for so long, if God was not watching out for you. |
