I haven't got to Children of the Mind yet. The bit I liked in Seventh Son was the attitude of Alvin's big brother to him. The brother had reached a point where he felt he couldn't tell little Alvin the truth. So, rather than lie to his brother or tell stories (fibs) like adults do with kids, and rather than telling Alvin everything, which he felt shouldn't dp, he made a solemn promise to his brother that whenever this happened, he simply say "I can't tell you". A strong mark of respect, given the constraints he was under, I thought. I better seek out Songmaster. Strangely, I don't think I've ever noticed in the shops. Fod |
