I never mentioned Christ; however, I did mention that love is one thing that lasts forever. And I do believe God is the other thing that lasts forever. I think if one "taps" into God's love they will experience quite a high. Unfortunately, because of our selfishness and our own need for controling our lives, christian and non-chrisitian turn away God's love, and we experince lonliness. We can try to fill it with many things. In America, getting the next toy is suppose to fufill us, but it doesn't. Looking good will bring us the "babes," but it doesn't bring us happiness. Having sex will fufill our need, but it doesn't. TV, movies, and perhaps this medium (the INTERNET) gives us an escape, but one can't "run" from lonliness. Eating brngs comfort, but it is only temporary. Working excessive hours makes us feel a purpose, but it does not bring one love. All these things are temporary. All things can be taken away. In fact, everything can be taken, except one thing. Til we get to the core of our existence, to that spot in our heart that is void, til our tears finally give up on the escapes of beer drinking, and all the other "stuff." Then, we begin to see that God has heard our cries. Indeed, He hears and answers our prayers and magnificant things happen! Unfortunately, I never stay with God. I always end up going back to crap, to listening to the desires in my mind telling me I NEED this I NEED that. Yet, there is only one thing I need. It is the only thing we have when everything is taken from us. You talk about non-christians who are not lonely. Indeed, there others who have learned some truths about God without Christ, but indeed Christ taught us much more than any other being. Time for me to re-read the New Testament. Thanks for reminding me about Christ, for indeed He was one who walked on water, healed the sick, raised the dead, and gave us the example of how we should live our lives. Thanks for helping to refocus my attention to the things that truly matter to me. ~Once a Boy |
