First of all, let me just say that I can be pretty hardcore with the concept of spiritual warfare, which will probably not jive with many liberal Christians, but anyway, it works for me. I see spiritual warfare as a defensive metaphor, not having anything to do with attacking people. It's not about attacking people, it's abouting protecting them from evil. Now, as for child molestation being a "worse sin," well you are right that in a purely spiritual sense, it is not. In fact, in a purely spiritual sense, all sins are equal in the eyes of God. (C.S. Lewis even went so far as to write that sexual sins are the least bad of all sins, in Mere Christianity). When I write, I often mix spiritual metaphors with earthy ones. I'm sorry if this confuses people, it is just the way I think. Spiritually, child molestation is no worse than lying or stealing or envying, but on a purely human level, that is, in the eyes of other people, it is a worse "sin". But this is just how people judge it, not God. However, since we live among people, we must remember that we will be punished more for committing sins that society considers to be worse, in it's judgmental estimation. So that is what I meant. No, it is not a worse sin from God's point of view, however, you will get in a lot of trouble if you commit that sin, so please, that is what I was trying to warn against. A lot of what I write is intended for people who are new to this stuff. I am trying to help people who were at the point that I was at five years ago when I was first coming out. I know that many of you who are more experienced are hearing things from me that you have already heard before. If I am wasting time by writing things that can be had elsewhere on the net already, then please, tell me to shut up, and I will. |
