That's OK, there are more similarities between myself and MV than are probably apparent. Of course, I don't know MV in real life, nor have I read 90% of what he wrote, but my life experiences have fully convinced me that the only way to get lust under control is by starting with the premise that sex is meant to be good. In studying symbolic and abstract logic, which I was required to do for my math major, I learned that all systems of logic must be based on axioms, which are ideas that are taken to be true without proof. These are the starting points for building a system of ideas. Axioms must simply be taken on faith, if a system to deductive logic is to be built on them. Now, there are two axioms that seem to be fighting constantly on this board. #1. Sex is bad. #2. Sex is good. Whichever one of these you accept as your starting point, will lead to very different conclusions about man/boy love. I have chosen #2, and everything I say flows from that. (Acutally, my TRUE beliefs are better stated as #3. Sex is morally netural, but love is good, and sex is meant for love.) Lust is not the same thing as sex. Lust is wrong, but sex is not, in my opinion. |
