...something that, when said in one line sounds corny enough to be rediculous, but when written out at length makes a whole lot of sense. That wasn't rambling, and I think i did help, as it has an important message: Physical touch does not have to be erotic.

Humans are social animals, we need to associate with others to keep in a good mental condition, that also includes the closeness of touch. Some say that we still have grooming instincts inherited from monkeys, which is one of their main social behaviours. They say that since we have much less hair, grooming from others is no longer necesary, but we still have the instinct.

What it has turned into (this is where the common behaviour known as the "smile" came from, used to be used to initiate grooming) is, as some say, "grooming talk" which has no relevance at all and is most often rhetorical "Nice weather today!"

I think that we still do need to be very close to others though, without the notion of sexual contact. Our world has become so taboo, it's begining to scare even me, and I've ignored the taboo-ishness (is that a word?) that has become evident, explaining it off as a logical stage in our society's development, we've ALWAYS had taboos.

Anyway, I'm drifting off topic.

My own answer to the original question: No. Haven't gotten the chance. Take the taboo-ishness of America and multiply it by ten and you may get close to Ireland's standards.
