Thank-you for both postings. I never intended my post to imply a monolithic conception of a sexual or emotional identity-it was probably clumsy shorthand but necessary to highlight my research area. I have carried out research with young gay men in small towns in Scotland who have to subliminate their sexuality and feelings, and I suspect many 'boylovers' either refuse an all-embracing tag, or carry on with life outside descriptive labels.
