Someday we'll leave these fleshly bodies behind, never to return to them. To live in the spirit today is to attain to something higher -- something that we, as Christians, will eventually achieve in fullness. But for now, the flesh must constantly be beaten down. We must crucify our flesh every day and allow God's Spirit to live through us if we're to achieve any good at all. What a battle it must've been for Jesus to accomplish this during His 30+ years and to have never sinned. What love He must've had for us to set aside His divinity and take on the flesh so that He could be a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. If I accomplish any good at all during my life, it will never be because of me or my flesh, but only because of Him and His Spirit! Praise God. ~Splash* My disclaimer: This post is only in response to the flesh vs spirit thread, and it's not meant to start a debate on other theological issues included in my response. ;) ...so please don't flame me. haha Serious inquiries accepted only! :) |
