Plainly? Because Jesus must be relevant to who we are, and our basic characteristic as humans are being sin-ie not God, and so that is a sin that gives us meaning, and thus, not to scandalilize, but sin is who we are. ANd so if Jesus was sinless, which he must have been, he must have been the in-itself of sin. He must have been sin as sin, so that it negates sin, and so he simply is. Jesus is what gives us our humanity, sin. I am not saying Jesus is sin, but Jesus transcends sin, but to transcend it we must be it, we sin, whereas Jesus IS sin, and by ebing it he destorys it. When we can BE something, as become it, it is destroyed, and Jesus did that with sin, which we cannot. We must keep Jesus human, we must be able to say "Jesus feels, and thinks this humanity I posses." He is Our humanity.
