I must say Altima I agree with most things that you say in your post. I say most things because I would go one step further about the Olt Testiment and say that it is all Jewish mythology. Going back to Sheesh's point about original sin, it is outdated dogma (I speak as a liberal Catholic). We do not exsist in a fallen state, there was no perfect Garden of Eden from which Adam and spouce were ejected. These stories are a primative jewish tribes attempt to explaine human nature. We are not in the process of falling, we are in the process of evolving. Thoughts such as jealousy, sex, pride are not sins, they are there because or minds evolved from lower animals. Walk passed a good looking lad and it's not Satan who puts those thoughts there, its inbuilt. I've said this before but I think that Christians need to become more positive, the Pope said some time ago that we have a lot to learn from some Eastern religions. For my own view lets do away with all this negative "sin" and "we are not worthy" crap and see our selves as we are. A very simplistic point but if God is so perfect, do you think it's fair of him to judge and condem to damnation creatures who are not! regards Dannyboy |
