If I met a gay kid who was suicidal I would support and love him even more than a straight kid cause the gay kid has a lot more going against him. When we got around to talking about God and Christian morality....which usually happens when they start wondering why I give a shit about them when no one else does....I would tell them that "I" think homosexual sex is wrong for "me", based on "my" belief's and "my" reading of the bible. I would also encourage them to have a relationship with God and, through him, decide what's best for them. I think a relationship with God is an intensely personal thing. This whole scenario has actually happened once....the kids parents were Jewish and he was pretty much a non-religious, in the closet, 8th grader. I guess I was the only Christian adult that he had ever respected cause the others were so anti-gay. He wasn't swayed towards Christianity....but I'm still working on him. At least he knows not all Christians have the same beliefs on certain things. |
