In the story about Adam and Eve, as in the story of the prodigal son, seeking good where it was not to be found led to a disillusionment. They soon saw that the promise of riches was an empty one. In each case, they regretted what they had done when they saw what it led to. My attraction to boys has not, in itself, led to such consequences. Indeed, it has led me to share God's love with some who'd had a great deal of trouble finding it in adults. As with any relationship though, problems can start if we try to impose our own sense of what someone else should be on them and if we try to receive from them what they are incapable of giving. I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again. It's not who we love but how we love. ---Ford |
