Indeed how one interprets something is truly all that matters. If one were raped and looked at it as an exciting adventure, then the person would not be traumatized. In all our views of the world, we can either get buried in guilt or shame, or we can just say okay that was kewl and move on. Unfortnately, well meaning people can often tramatize a child more by forcing them to testify or forcing them to talk about things when the child is NOT ready to talk.

Our society attempts to traumatize us every day, that is to prevent us from living. For example, it tells us that we need certain materialstic things in order to be happy. Thus, people work and work to get the new house, the nice car, the cool clothes, yet society's lie is causing much anxiety and stress in the lives of many Americans. Society definitely traumatized us, and we don't "see" it, because we believe in the "truths" set out by society.
