I saw a show on MSNBC tonight about some people who were brought to trial under the suspicion that they had some kind of sex-ring that involved children. The one man had been a foster father for many years, and the "system" was actually able to get a couple of his kids to testify against him. Eventually, the people were found innocent, but now neither one of them wants anything to do with children. One woman was a Sunday school teacher, and she says that she doesn't want to be seen around children anymore. And the man says that it took him a year before he started feeling comfortable about being around his grandchildren again.

I understand your point, Jim. Society is so bent on thinking that any adult relationship with a kid could easily go wrong that they even persecute innocent people who have very healthy relationships with children. I do agree that something needs to be done about this. How can I, a 30 year old man, feel right about mentoring someone else's 13 year old son when society is so quick to question what my real motives are? I'm sure the suspicions cause many men to stay away from mentoring roles. And we all know how important it is for a boy to have a mentor.

But even without my Christian beliefs, it'd still take a lot of convincing for me to support the legal right of a man to have a sexual relationship with a boy in any case.
