You are not alone. There are indeed teens like yourself. Unfortuately, few would risk bringing this up with a close friend, so sometimes, we can feel quite alone thinking no one can understand. At any moment, (it need not be this particular issue), we can find ourselves alone and believe that no one will understand. The truth is God cares, and in time, I pray He will send you friends who will build you up and not tear you down, to give you a future and a hope.

Be careful of those who will pull you down in an attempt to bring you into the sea of darkness. Of course, more importantly is the ability to NOT let one's inner struggles bring forth darkness. The Bible describes a God who so loved the world that He showed us how to shine on despite whatever is going on in one's life.

Finally, you asked about our high school years. From 14-18, I babysat a boy and a girl and although I had a lot of friends in HS and enjoyed doing stuff with them, there was something magical that occured between me and those kids. Whenever I would return from college, they would run happily to see me.

During the summer of my 17th year, I travelled 10 hours by car with a HS friend to visit his aunt and uncle. I ended up becoming close friends with his 11 year old cousin. I had written a story about it, and perhaps one day, I'll post. In short, God blessed our times together. While in college, Chris kept an orange wristband on til I would return. He even had a lot of kids in the school wearing these wristbands, so his parents and I set up a surpise visit. When he came home, his excitement upon seeing me was an eyeopener. Also, after three months of keeping the wristband on, I got him to take it off. I didn't understand then, but understand now. I believe God crossed our paths, as He crosses our paths with many people. God created a love between me and Chris that is still remembered fondly today. Enjoy your times with whomever God brings into your life. From an old song, "Love the one your with!" Enjoy life!

Best wishes,
