As far as my wife wanting me to "get help" I think she and I have a different view of what help means. I get the impression that she wants me to admit to myself that I am some sort of monster. But I know that I am not. I do welcome my meetings, as a quest for self understanding. I think I am in a better position than you were as far as the confidentiality part is concerned. My shrink (Jim) told me that he would only go outside if he had good reason to belive that I was going to hurt myself or another, ie go postal. Other than that he did say that he has two colleges who on rare occasions he will discuss things with, if he feels stumped. They would also be bound by the rules of confidentiality. As far as what he has said, well it seemed like I did most of the talking. But the questions were good ones for me to explore. He has not been running any tests, at least not yet, and I really don't see him hooking me up to a "peter meter". I thank you for your prayers. By the way, are there any particular passages from the bible that you would recomend I read. As I noted above, I think I am likely to start with the book of Job, I think he knew what i am going through. |
