Ford, your posts have always been inspirational to me. I've been meaning to tell you that, but now I only get to do it on your pending exile. I think I'll look for a copy of Nouwen for my mother. What I was wondering about was how you felt you aren't able to express the idea that our lives are a blessing in this environment. I dunno, seems to me I can't be the only one with a listening ear to your posts. Not that you should go somewhere just because people are keen to listen to you, but you know. You were having a recent run-in with Forgiven, yes, he did seem to be missing a lot, I felt like he's having a hard time. Something more to his anger than pure doctrine... But anyway, who else was riding against you that you feel driven away? For what it's worth, my take on the quarrel with Forgiven about comprehension of sin is that you were looking at it from two different perspectives. Your perspective was the one in 1 John 4:18, "perfect love drives out fear", concentrating on the consequences of faith and redemption in a believer's life, while Forgiven's perspective is like Hebrews 10:31 "It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God", which carries something of an appreciation for what exactly it is we've been redeemed from.
