A sappy story

A boy of about 8 wanted so much to meet God. He was sure that if he set out to find him he could do it. So, one morning he packed himself a lunch and set out on his quest. He got to the city park where he saw an old woman sitting on one of the benches. He sat down next to her and watched as she threw peanuts to the squirrels. Eventually he got hungry and opened his lunch. However, he'd forgotten to take anything to drink. The old woman did have a container of lemonade with her (since she'd usually eat some of the peanuts herself). She offered the boy some. He offered her one of his sandwiches. The sat together and enjoyed what each other had brought and, even more, enjoyed being with each other. The boy realized he'd already found what he was looking for and figured he'd head for home. Before leaving though, he gave the old woman a big hug. When he got back, his dad asked him what he'd been doing. The boy said he'd gone out to look for God and had found him in the park. "Y'know though," the boy said, "he didn't look anything like I'd expected." Meanwhile, the woman returned to her home and found her daughter had come for a visit. The daughter asked the old woman what she'd been doing. "Oh, I met God today," she replied. "And y'know, he's a lot younger than I thought." ------------ OK....I told you it was sappy. But we can meet Jesus in situations where we might not even recognize him. I too am concerned about my interest in boys, and have found that praying for healthy relationships with them to be fruitful. ---Ford |
