it is one of my favourites as well - as much for the music as the words, which I've probably not stopped to look at properly before....

My own response to the issue of finding one's place of service is to start from where you are and see what happens; circumstances have led me to a number of important friendships and areas of service 'by chance'. There is also a sense that you are 'in ministry' even in your secular job; having let that get to me yesterday, indulging in some swearing, I'm not very pleased with myself about that at the moment.

Another question to look at is what do you find most exciting when you achieve it. Is it seeing people become Christians, seeing people work through issues as they realise God's truth for them, or growing quietly in God's love? Or as the jargon labels are, Evangelist, Teacher and Pastor. The Friar tradition is evangelistic - is that a hint?

As someone who's struggling with his own church at the moment, I'd be interested to know why you've dropped out of corporate worship; are you still involved in any house / bible study?
