It's very strange to tell it to "straight" people, but if the one you want to talk to is really your friend in christ, he should be able to act like a real friend. After all it helps people to understand us a bit. The more we spread the word, the more people get positively aware of the problem. Talking about it on the internet is a great way to find other guys like you or to make people aware. But facing a friend face to face is so different. It deserves much more overcoming, but it's really worth the struggle.
