Strongly discouraged with your YOUNG YFs

The nature of my relationship with my YFs is very different because:

They've known me for a long time (5 years or so)
They're over 18
They've got girlfriends.

One of the difficulties for us as BLs is that sometimes we forget how young our YFs are. We see them at their best, on the whole, and forget that actually they are not that experienced in the world.

One of the other posters here - who's not around much these days - went down the route of telling his 14 year old YF how much he cared about him. BIG mistake. The boy freaked, told his parents who told the church, and the relationship is unrepaired after 2 years plus. I am certain that a teenager who isn't really secure with where he's at (i.e. 99% of all known 14 year olds!) won't cope with a mega relationship.

But do try and be his friend and a useful part of his life; there are several men whom I've known for a lot of years who I seem to have helped by just being there.

Does that make any sense?
