This shows that god is so incredibly much greater than we are. Human justice can't really solve anything. It can just keep the troubles as low as possible. And further: no one can get rid of his guilt after getting the punishment the human justice demands for his misdeeds. The covenant of god shows us a justice that's beyond everything we learned and see as common. This is what real love is. Real love is not if you long for someone you find very attractive, or who gives you something you need to satisfy yourself, but real love is the power that makes the one who is loved valuable. We humans are guilty. Sin is deep within us. There's nothing we can do to add any value to our lives.But god makes us valuable by just loving us. In his eyes we are valuable. There's nothing we can do that could avert his love from us. This is so unbelievable and yet it is true. My heart shall rest in God, never mind what was and never mind what's to come.
