It's still dangerous to express it like that

I can see what you are getting at - but I still find it unhelpful to speak of it like that. It is essentially the same argument - it is the 'Will of God' - that Paul dismisses in that very difficult passage in Romans 9 - particularly v19. And it rejects the clear statement that we will not be tempted beyond our strength (I cor 10 v 13). I find it dangerous because it could so easily be taken as an excuse by someone (in the context of this board) who is thinking about a sexual relationship with a boy to go for that despite knowing it is wrong. Which is why I've jumped up and quite so heavily.

On the other hand the truth that you proclaim that God is able to use us despite, and to some extent because of our past mistakes is an important one. Yes we have sinned - but we are forgiven :-) so we are free to make the best use of lives to do the best for God.
